The Shires Q21 features a Knopf wrap with medium throat bell and yellow brass construction, capable of producing a full, warm tone with excellent flexibility and intonation. A solder-jointed leadpipe to bell construction provides a deeper sound quality versus standard braces, while supporting the perfect amount of resistance across the musical range. The addition of nickel silver inner and outer slides improves the response and tonal clarity of this model, compared to the standard Q20 in full yellow brass.
Special Features
The Q21 features special Rotax valves, which are some of the lightest skeletonized valves still made of metal, making for fast action on the horn. The leadpipe and bell tail are built with a long solder joint, an involving hand-joined process found on custom horns and higher-end German makers.
